Created as a commentary on authenticity, value, and consumer culture, the Counterfeit Belt Stool reimagines discarded and imitation luxury signifiers as a collectible design object. Each buckle is individually cast in bronze and integrated into a woven arrangement of belts across the seat, creating a work that is both functional and sculptural. As a one-of-a-kind piece, it is particularly suited to collectors of contemporary design, art furniture, and limited-edition craft.

Counterfeit Belt Stool
One-of-a-Kind Functional Sculpture by Maxim Lester
A striking fusion of collectible design, contemporary craft, and cultural commentary, the Counterfeit Belt Stool is a unique hand-crafted piece by British designer and maker Maxim Lester.
The stool is constructed from hand-bent steel and wrapped with an assemblage of faux-leather belts inspired by counterfeit luxury fashion accessories. Heavyweight belt buckles bearing iconic fashion house motifs—including references to Chanel, Hermès, and Louis Vuitton—are cast in solid bronze, transforming familiar symbols of status and consumption into sculptural elements.
Blurring the boundaries between furniture, art object, and social critique, the piece functions equally as a stool and as a conversation-starting collector's work. The layered belts create a richly textured surface, while the industrial steel frame provides a stark contrast to the luxury-inspired detailing, hand-bent steel, faux-leather belts, solid cast bronze buckles
