Golden Toes Porcelain Bowl by Nicky Backlund

A handcrafted porcelain dish features a softly contoured, organic form, finished in a pristine glaze. At the centre of this piece, a playful duck is captured dived in, its delicate gold lustre legs disappearing into a rich cobalt blue pond – recording a fleeting, poetic moment in time.

Nicky graduated at Central Saint Martins in 2024 and is continuing with an MA in Design.

This collection, Moments of Joy, evolved significantly through her research and making. The aim, to evoke a sense of joy from the viewer. To encourage reflection, as well as highlight the importance of time. Giving ourselves time to stop, reflect and most of all enjoy moments of joy.

Each piece is meticulously crafted in the UK using traditional ceramic techniques. Backlund’s signature approach combines minimalist forms with emotive, narrative elements—resulting in ceramics that feel both intimate and conceptually refined.
