Description
Description
One of a kind, fluid ceramic sculpture by London based Brazilian artist Iara Talledo Violani.
By using a chaotic and unpredictable approach to ceramics to create unique pieces, Iara frees the material and form after creating individual elements on the potter’s wheel, rejecting the customary gentleness with which ceramist artists treat soft, newly thrown pieces and collides them to create colourful collages of imperfect beauty such as this Confrontation Constellation piece.

About The Designer
About The Designer
Iara Talledo Violani (b. 1999) specialised in wheel-thrown ceramics during her time on the University of Brighton's BA (Hons) 3D Design and Craft course where she graduated in 2023.
Her current work is inspired by the unpredictability of the SESC Pompeia building in São Paulo and the hyperpop music genre. By using a chaotic and unpredictable approach to ceramics to create something unique, Iara challenges her natural gravitation towards perfection and perfectionism. After creating individual elements on the potter’s wheel, she rejects the customary gentleness with which people treat soft, newly thrown pieces and collides them to create colourful collages.
Alongside special effects glazes which look vastly different before and after firing, this method creates unique clusters of shapes where she cannot predict how the clay will collapse and deform into each other upon contact. By removing expectation, she has avoided falling into the vicious cycle of seeking perfection – something unattainable – and relaxed into working more intuitively.
