Large Shag Bag by Carraic and Eigengrau.Ltd.
With inspiration from the silhouettes of Isamu Noguchi’s lamp’s applied to the aesthetics of Eigengrau.LTD, during Carraic’s internship he designed a bag which stitched hair into the seams that could hang low beneath the bag and flow in motion. The complexity of bringing it to life put the idea on pause indefinitely.
These drawings resurfaced over a year later and Carraic and Eigengrau.LTD collaborated together to develop it into a product for Madnesses. The results were a series of handcrafted avant-garde hairy bags, manufactured with the most incredible attention to detail, and a truly original visual expression
The Large Shag Bag represents the ultimate expression of this collaborative collection. Designed and manufactured by hand without compromise, it combines craftsmanship and creativity to produce a strikingly original piece. The flowing hair moves elegantly with the wearer, while the bag’s generous size ensures it’s both functional and bold.

CARRAIC
Carraic is a jewellery and accessories designer based in
Portobello, London, specialising in hardware and jewellery for avant-garde bespoke leather jackets. After interning at Eigengrau.Ltd., Carraic now collaborates as an equal partner, enhancing the brand’s iconography and creative output.
Eigengrau.Ltd. is a leather studio focused on artisanal
jackets inspired by organic growth and decay. Founded in 2021 by a former industrial scientist, the studio prioritises craftsmanship and slow techniques
over mass production.
Together, Carraic and Eigengrau.Ltd. merge their skills, with Carraic inventing new hardware functions while gaining valuable insights into leather working and the fashion industry. Their collaboration results in
unique pieces that reflect their shared vision of quality and originality.
