About The Designer
About The Designer
By Walid’s one-of-a-kind fabric art pieces originated as the creative output of a collaboration between Walid and environmental artist Kumiko Tani, who has worked at Walid’s side for many years, handling special projects and accessories. These witty companions have now amassed a cult collector following.
Walid is renowned for taking a zero-waste approach to his artful creations, and these unusual soft sculptures are no different. The British-Iraqi designer repurposes historical antique materials and can take up to six months to create – such is the careful craftsmanship and attention to detail – and becomes more vivid as the creative process progresses. Each hand-dyed and intricately stitched piece tells its own unique story and is set on a sturdy steel base, ready to be a characterful focal point in your home, or the art collector's office.
